# Teams & collaboration

> Shared projects, work threads, team chat, and the sidebar controls that make a team's work easier to find.

A team groups the projects you work on with other people. In the sidebar, projects sit under their team's heading; shared teams also show their channels below their projects. You can belong to more than one team and keep a personal space for your own projects.

## Work in a shared project

Any team member can create a project in their team or move a project into it. Once the project is shared, members can open its threads and send their own turns: a teammate can pick up the work without copying the conversation into a new thread. A private thread remains visible only to its creator. [Roles & permissions](https://darting.dev/docs/roles-and-permissions/) explains which team and project administration actions require a manager.

A lead agent working on your behalf can start a thread in another project on the same team, or consult that sibling project's knowledge when the work crosses a project boundary. Those are explicit cross-project actions, not a shared sandbox: each work thread still has its own branch and environment. See [threads & branches](https://darting.dev/docs/threads-and-branches/).

## Find the work you care about

Use the sidebar's funnel to show or hide whole **teams** and individual **projects**. You can narrow to one team and reset the selection to show everything again. A project's thread list can also be narrowed to a person who started or participated in the work. The hidden-team and hidden-project choices, the order of teams, and the thread-person choice are saved to your account so they follow you between devices.

## Talk alongside the work

Every work thread has a collapsible [team chat](https://darting.dev/docs/team-chat/) rail for human conversation, mentions, and attachments. Shared teams also have channels, and you can direct-message a teammate. Those messages do not become turns in the agent's transcript: send a turn in the main conversation when you want the agent to act. Cross-thread messages exchanged by agents are a separate mechanism, not team chat.

For spend and limits on shared work, see [usage & limits](https://darting.dev/docs/usage-and-limits/).
