# Media generation

> Ask for images and authored videos as project assets, separately from screenshots and recordings that prove your app works.

Darting can generate **images** and **videos** from a description, save them into the project, and show the result in chat. Ask for the asset you need rather than switching to a separate creation tool.

## Images

Ask for an illustration, icon, mockup, or other visual asset. Describe its purpose, style, and proportions; images can be square, portrait, or landscape.

For example: “Generate a landscape illustration for the homepage hero, with simple shapes and no text. Save it with the site's assets.”

## Videos

Ask for a short promo, hero loop, or social clip. Generated videos can be **5–15 seconds** long, with optional music, dialogue, and sound effects. Specify the length, aspect ratio, content, and whether you want audio.

A clip can start from text alone, use an opening or closing image, or use image, video, and audio references to guide its subject, style, or motion. Frame anchors and reference-based generation are separate modes, not options to combine in one request.

For a promo featuring your real product, Darting can first record the app and use that footage as a generation reference. The raw recording and the authored video are different deliverables.

## Generation is not proof

A generated video does **not** demonstrate that a feature works. [Video proof](https://darting.dev/docs/video-proof/) uses a real-browser recording; static UI proof uses screenshots. Ask for proof when you want to inspect behavior, and for generation when you want an authored asset.

## Cost and approval

Generation is paid work and happens only when you explicitly request it. Asking what is possible does not authorize a render. A new generation attempt costs again, so give feedback before requesting another version.

Images and videos bill to credits, including the Auto Plan's applicable monthly allowance; they are not covered as ordinary Auto-routed turns. See [pricing](https://darting.dev/pricing/) for how the plan and credits work.
